Why does the app close & Maps opens?
A few have been asking why does the Cycle Deluxe app quits & open the Maps app separately when journey planning? Other apps don’t do this.
Essentially, I want the display of journey plans to work a certain way and this is not currently possible in MapKit (i.e integrating directly into the app). The other apps you see are either using a different mapping service (such as OpenStreetMaps) or draw within google maps to varying degrees of success.
For those on iOS4 with fast app switching, leaving the app to step through beautifully animated journey plans is a small price to pay.
I am working on & looking into ways to get integrated journey plans. But you’ll then miss out on all the functional goodness of the native Maps app direction capabilities.
